A 100 amp panel isn't automatically disqualified from supporting a Level 2 EV charger. What matters is how much of that 100 amps is already spoken for by your existing major loads, central air, electric baseboard heat, a dryer, a range, a hot tub. Many 100A homes still have enough headroom for a dedicated EV circuit once we run the numbers.
Installing a charger on a panel that's already at capacity isn't just a code violation, it's a real fire and nuisance-tripping risk. We run a proper load calculation using Ontario Electrical Safety Code demand factors before recommending any path, and that calculation gets filed with the ESA regardless of which option you end up choosing.
We'll do a load assessment and tell you exactly what your panel can handle — before you commit to anything.
